The foundation funds
Through this call for proposals, Teiger Foundation funds exhibitions, commissions, performances, public program series, related publications, and other curator-led initiatives that involve contemporary art and artists with grants up to $150,000. They do this in two ways.
- They provide support for a single project at a non-profit exhibition space with an annual budget above $3 million.
- They provide support for three years of programming at a smaller organization with an annual budget below $3 million.
Teiger Foundation also offers two other grant opportunities through their call for proposals. These opportunities were developed through conversations with curators working in the field, and aim to address gaps in the art funding sector. Organizations of any size can receive up to $50,000 for projects in these categories.
- They support venues who wish to host touring exhibitions. Curators or artistic directors can apply to bring an exhibition originating elsewhere to the distinct context of their own institution and community.
- They support curatorial research including costs related to travel, convenings, and collaborative investigations around critical issues leading up to an exhibition or other project. As part of this grant, they also offer institutional support for curators to take leave to conduct this research.
At the moment, they do not fund projects unaffiliated with an established non-profit exhibition space, projects proposed by individual artists, endowments or capital campaigns, or projects that do not involve contemporary art. The current call for proposals is for curators in the U.S. and territories only.
