The GOYFF is making available federal funds for applicants to implement and expand substance abuse prevention. The goal of this funding is to support programming which utilizes SAMHSA’s Six Primary Prevention Strategies and SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) while following the core principles of a trauma-informed approach. Programs should implement as many of the six strategies as possible for their target population. SAMHSA indicates long-term successful outcomes are directly correlated with the use of as many of the six prevention strategies as possible.

- Rural
- Tribal
- Urban/County/Statewide

Project Period
This is a 12-month contract that may be renewable for up to two (2) additional 12-month periods, contingent upon the federal appropriations, compliance with terms and conditions, programmatic and financial performance, and through the submission of a renewal application.
Targeted Sub-Populations
Applicants are encouraged to develop strategies for engaging the following target subpopulations, as applicable:
- Individuals in rural isolated areas
- Tribal populations
- Veterans, military service members and military families
- Parents and/or caregivers of children who may be at risk of entering foster care
- Individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, and intersex
- Individuals 55 and older
