The purpose of the S&L portion of DWR’s WRDG is to provide up to 50% cost-share funding of non-federal costs and technical assistance to units of local governments statewide to implement water management (storm-water control measures (BMPs), LID/GSI, drainage/flood control), stream restoration (including dam/aquatic passage/flow barrier removals, shoreline stabilization/living shorelines, etc.) and water-based recreation projects (greenways adjacent to water bodies, paddle access sites, etc.). This grant program also provides 50% cost-share funding for conducting feasibility or engineering studies to support implementation of these projects.
Grants may be made for the nonfederal share of water resources development projects for the following purposes:
- Stream Restoration: Restoration or stabilization of degraded streams & shorelines, aquatic barrier removals, etc.
- Water Management: Storm water control measures, drainage, flood control, hydrologic restoration, etc.
- Water-based Recreation Sites: Greenways, Trails, Boardwalks; Paddle Access, Fishing Docks/Piers; land acquisition for water-based recreation sites operated by local governments.
Funding Information
- Applicants are generally encouraged to not exceed a $200,000 funding request.
