County: Mecklenburg County (NC)

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 11/11/2022

Size of the Grant: $10,000 to $100,000

Details:

Women’s Impact Fund’s mission is to strengthen communities by maximizing women’s leadership in philanthropy through collective giving, education and engagement.

For the second year, Women’s Impact Fund will only accept grant requests for unrestricted operating support.

Funding Priorities

  • The intent of Women’s Impact Fund is to award grants that have the potential for high impact and significant positive change in the Charlotte Mecklenburg region.
  • Women’s Impact Fund makes annual grants in five program areas. Nonprofits must choose in which program area to apply.
    • Arts & Culture
    • Education
    • Environment
    • Health
    • Human Services
  • In considering grant applications across their five funding areas, Women’s Impact Fund focuses on several common priorities. While they do not expect nonprofit organizations to respond to or address all priorities in their grant applications, these priorities are considered in their review.
  • Women’s Impact Fund has an interest in funding grants for nonprofit organizations focused on:
    • Racial and/or gender equity
    • Responsiveness to, or awareness of, root causes
    • Work that focuses on reducing disparities in community
    • Increasing accessibility
    • Building resilience and/or demonstrating the ability to adapt to changing societal and environmental circumstances
    • Serving populations that are underserved or not reached through other resources or organizations
  • They will only accept proposals for unrestricted operating support. Funds should be used for annual operating support and not capital or endowment campaigns or re-granting to other organizations.

Funding Information

In 2022-2023, grants may range from $10,000 to $100,000. The grants fund is a pooled fund comprised of annual contributions of $1,000 from each member of Women’s Impact Fund.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must qualify as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, either individually or under the auspices of a qualified fiscal agent or sponsor.
  • Organizations must be located in Mecklenburg County, or the majority of the clients it serves must be located in Mecklenburg County. If you are a local chapter of a national organization, please make clear the services provided in Mecklenburg County in your application and budget.
  • Each organization may submit only one application per grant cycle in only one program area; Grants Committee leaders reserve the right to reclassify the program area following submission.
  • Organizations must not discriminate on the basis of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, physical ability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or religious belief.
  • Organizations cannot require any religious commitment or participation in religious programs to receive services. Organizations that are influenced by a religious mission can apply, but should make clear that anyone, regardless of religious background or belief, can receive services without being subject to a certain religious message.
  • They do not fund fraternal organizations such as fraternities, sororities, or other associations.
  • Prior Women’s Impact Fund grant recipients are eligible to receive an award three years after the award of a previous grant. For example, if an organization received a grant in May 2020 or earlier, they may apply to receive a grant this year in the 2022-2023 grants cycle. If an organization received a grant in May 2021 or May 2022, they may not apply in this year’s grant cycle.
