The Department intends to use the Native American Pedestrian Safety Demonstration project to support the creation of good-paying jobs with the free and fair choice to join a union and the incorporation of strong labor standards consistent with Executive Order 14025, Worker Organizing and Empowerment and Executive Order 14052, Implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The Department also intends to use the Native American Pedestrian Safety Demonstration project to support wealth creation, consistent with the Department’s Equity Action Plan through the inclusion of Local inclusive economic development and entrepreneurship such as the utilization of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, Minority-owned Businesses, Women-owned Businesses, or (a) firms.
Native American Indian/Alaskan people have a higher per-capita rate of total traffic fatalities than other racial groups. Native American Indian/Alaska had the highest rate of pedestrian traffic deaths per 100,000 people from 2015-20191 . NHTSA seeks to reduce pedestrian and bicyclist deaths and injuries among Native American road users with this project.
The purpose of this Cooperative Agreement (CA) is to support federally recognized tribal governments in developing processes and tools to assess and address pedestrian safety on their tribal lands.
Funding Information
A total of up to $507,000 is available to fund up to one (1) discretionary Cooperative Agreement and is subject to the availability of funds.
Project Period
All work required hereunder, including preparation, submission, review, and acceptance of the final deliverables, shall be completed within twenty-four (24) months of the effective date of the award.
Eligibility Criteria
This NOFO is open to all type of domestic applicants, other than individuals. Eligibility does not guarantee an award. NHTSA will only issue an award to an eligible applicant that demonstrates that it has the infrastructure in place, as well as the necessary staff and support to carry out the responsibilities of administering, coordinating, and implementing the activities of this NOFO.
