The Wonderful Company is focused on the health and well-being of Central Valley communities. In the past 8 years, Wonderful Community Grants has directly funded over $6 million dollars across 77 nonprofits and 165 schools in the San Joaquin Valley. This year, Wonderful Company will be funding $1 million in grants to schools and organizations serving the priority communities.
Grant Priorities
Wonderful Community Grants will support game changing work across all impact areas, but they especially encourage initiatives that support:
- Youth Enrichment/Education
- Community Health
- Domestic Violence
- Arts
- Economic Advancement
- Legal Aid
- Park Access & Sustainability
Funding Information
- $1,000–$50,000 grants, awarded until funds are exhausted.
- Up to two $100,000 grants, awarded funds to be used over two years.
Eligible Activities
- Proposed projects must be aligned with the organization’s current mission and overall goals, and culminate into something visible and tangible in the community
- Program activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Program development and expansion
- Capacity-building and innovation
- Technology and equipment, where the grant funds the entire purchase price
- Public education and outreach
- One-time start-up costs required for the program
- Programmatic events such as workshops (fundraising events are not eligible)
- Small-scale capital improvements where the grant funds the entire capital cost.
Geographical Areas
Organizations must demonstrate impact in one or more of the following communities:
- Kern County: Delano, Wasco, Shafter, Lost Hills
- Kings County: Avenal
- Fresno County: Sanger, Del Rey, Firebaugh, Mendota
Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstrate a commitment to making the rural communities of the San Joaquin Valley in California a more equitable place to live, work, and play
- Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, hospital, clinic or community health organization, local government agency, or school
- Religious organizations, provided the project has a secular purpose, no religious content, and benefits the greater community without regard to religious affiliation.
