2022 Illuminate the Arts Grant for Local Arts and Culture Community in Pennsylvania

Dated: May 16, 2022

The 2022 Illuminate the Arts Grant is a means to aid in the recovery of Philadelphia’s arts and culture community from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Donor Name: Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE)

State: Pennsylvania

County: Philadelphia County/city (PA)

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 06/03/2022

Size of the Grant: $10,000-$20,000

Details:

The 2022 Illuminate the Arts Grant is a total of $1.5M to be distributed to Philadelphia’s individual artists, small and mid-size nonprofit arts organizations, and small creative enterprises. The grant seeks to financially uplift Philadelphia’s creative sector and support disadvantaged communities, particularly Philadelphia’s Black and Brown communities, that have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant also seeks to support Philadelphia’s most underserved communities.

Created by Philadelphia City Council, the funds for the 2022 Illuminate the Arts Grant came from the City’s General Fund and will be distributed by Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) with support from the Arts and Culture Task Force to provide relief to the arts community quickly and efficiently.

Who can Apply?

The 2022 Illuminate the Arts Grant application process and eligibility requirements are uniquely geared to meet the needs of the local arts and culture community while providing relief quickly and efficiently. Applicants must be based in Philadelphia County. The 2022 grants will support:

  • Individual artists with a 2021 total annual income of $54,000 or less can apply for a grant of $1,000-2,000. Individual artists who claim dependents are eligible for higher maximum income limits and should visit the application to determine eligibility.
  • Small nonprofit arts organizations with 2021 operating budgets of $100,000 or less can apply for grants ranging from $5,000-$10,000.
  • Mid-size nonprofit arts organizations with 2021 operating budgets between $100,000-$500,000 can apply for grants ranging from $10,000-$20,000.
  • Small creative enterprises with 2021 operating budgets less than $500,000 can apply for grants ranging from $2,500-$15,000.

This will be a competitive grant with more eligible applicants than the $1.5M Illuminate the Arts Grant will be able to support. Applicants can submit only one application to the 2022 Illuminate the Arts Grant but are encouraged to apply for support through other funding available from local, state, and national levels.
