The City of Martinez recognizes that cultural events make significant contributions to the overall quality of life in the City of Martinez.

Cultural events may include, but are not limited to, public performances in dance, music, theater, or educational events intended to benefit the community.

Funding Information

The maximum amount of funding available per cultural event is $1,000.

Eligibility Criteria

In selecting a cultural event, the following criteria shall be used:

  • Applicants may be a resident, business or a 501c3, located in the incorporated City of Martinez or unincorporated areas within the City’s Sphere of Influence.
  • Events must be in alignment with the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Only grant applications for in-person events will be accepted.
  • In-person events must take place in the City of Martinez or unincorporated areas within the City’s Sphere of Influence and must show a direct benefit to City of Martinez residents and/or visitors.
  • Eligible events must be free of charge and open to the public to attend; events must primarily focus on the cultural benefit to the community at large.
  • Events that are political in nature, or represent a sole party, candidate or affiliation are not eligible.
  • Events may not have a primary purpose of fundraising.
  • Applications for events which have already occurred/after the fact are ineligible for grant funding.
  • To be considered for grant funding, the event must meet and adhere to current State and County health and safety guidelines including, but not limited to, the size of gathering, type of gathering, and social distancing guidelines.
