2023 Cox Charities Grants for Nonprofit Organizations in Nevada

Cox Communications, in partnership with its fiscal partner Nevada Community Foundation, is pleased to invite nonprofit organizations to apply for grants.

Funding Focus Areas

The Fund seeks to support programs that specifically focus on the following areas:

  • Education, with a priority on K-12 and STEAM.
  • Diversity, with a priority on programs serving 80% or more of a target population or serve an inclusion, diversity, and equity initiative.
  • Environment/Sustainability, with a priority on water conservation, waste, or carbon reduction.

Funding Information

Multiple grants may be awarded, typically ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Please make your grant request for up to $5,000 only.

Uses of funds

Cox Charities will fund only program-related expenses, including activities, materials and supplies that are directly related to the provision of services, which support local Southern Nevada needs. Funding will NOT be given for general operations or staff salaries/wages or for the provision of healthcare/therapy services, medical research, or supplies. Organizations are allowed to submit multiple applications for different unique programs. Funding decisions are made by a committee comprised of Cox employees who contribute their dollars to Cox Charities.

​Eligibility Criteria

Cox Charities will consider applications from organizations which:

  • Be in good standing with the IRS at the time of review or else the submitted application(s) will be immediately declined.
    • Any Nevada 501(c)(3) organization, government agency, and tribal entity that operates with fiscal accountability and responsibility are eligible. Religious organizations may apply for funding of non-sectarian programs.
    • Organizations without 501(c)(3) status must use a fiscal agent or sponsor to apply on their behalf. Fiscal agents or sponsors must be a 501(c)(3) organization.
  • Demonstrate a non-discrimination policy regarding staff, employment, governing board, and service delivery based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, or national origin, and provide evidence of the policy.
  • Serve within the Cox Las Vegas Service Areas: Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Provide opportunities for Cox Communications Las Vegas employees to engage as volunteers and/or to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors.
  • Will acknowledge Cox Charities’ support publicly.
  • Cox Charities is particularly interested in organizations which:
    • Illustrate strong civic leadership.
    • Practice and demonstrate sound administrative and fiscal management.
    • Work with other agencies and/or leverage other funding in the public and private sectors to achieve the mission.
    • Measure and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of its program(s).
    • Fill a recognized need in the community without duplication of efforts.
