Details:

The intent of the grant program is to provide benefits to the people of the County of Kauaʻi via services or activities that meet a distinctive cultural, social, or economic need for which adequate federal or state funding cannot be secured.

Funding Information

Awards will be considered up to $10,000 per project proposal.

Project Period

Project Funding Period September 1, 2023, thru August 31, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for award, the Applicant shall:

  • Be a not-for-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Hawaiʻi, a non-profit organization exempt from federal income tax by the Internal Revenue Service, or an educational institution or Kauaʻi-based business with a non-profit fiscal sponsor. In the case of a non-profit organization, members of its governing board shall have served without compensation and have no material conflict of interest.
  • Have bylaws or policies that describe the manner in which business is conducted including management, fiscal policies and procedures, and policies on nepotism and the management of potential conflicts of interest.
  • Have at least one (1) year of experience with the project or in the program area being proposed. The County may grant an exception from this requirement if the Applicant has demonstrated the necessary experience in the program area.
  • Have staff or authorized representatives adequately trained to administer and provide the service described

Grant Requirements

  • Your proposal must be specific to one (1) of the following categories: Cultural, Social, or Economic.
  • Your proposal should clearly state how your project will benefit the people of Kaua‘i.
  • It is expected that you will comply with the requirements set by the County of Kaua‘i Project Manager, or the Director of Finance.
  • Projects or events will require both fiscal and program reporting on a quarterly basis (due on the 15th of the month following the close of the quarter – fiscal year July 1 – June 30).
  • Program reports (including final report) will require reporting of, at a minimum, the following:
    • Program status
    • Program data
    • Summary of participant characteristics
    • Financial Status Report – how were funds used (expenditures)
