Advancing Disability Justice Grants 2022 for Oregon and Washington

The Northwest Health Foundation is seeking applications for its Advancing Disability Justice Grants 2022 to support disability justice leadership in their region by providing grants for community building, civic engagement, community organizing, cultural work, leadership development, movement building, or policy advocacy.

Details:

Advancing Disability Justice Grants are available for groups led by disabled Black, Indigenous or other people of color (BIPOC), or BIPOC-led groups that have disabled BIPOC leadership for the project. Projects should be led by and focus on disabled BIPOC in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

NWHF funding is available to those organizations within the state of Oregon, and Clark, Cowlitz, Pacific, Skamania, and Wahkiakum counties in the state of Washington.

Priorities

Projects should be in alignment with the following priorities:

  • Projects should be led by and focus on disabled, neurodivergent and d/Deaf Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC).
  • Projects should focus on building capacity or work related to community building, civic engagement, community organizing, cultural work, leadership development, movement building or policy advocacy by disabled BIPOC.
  • Project values should align with the Disability Justice Principles as described by Sins Invalid (longer descriptions and short descriptions).
  • Applicants must be affiliated, working in partnership with, or fiscally sponsored by an organization that can receive 501(c)(3) grant funds.

Funding Information

NWHF will provide one-time project grants for up to $5,000 or up to $10,000. Applicants will be asked to state their requested amount. They welcome applications with requests below $5,000 or $10,000. Grants can be for new or existing projects and can support short-term, long-term or one-time projects.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be affiliated, working in partnership with, or fiscally sponsored by an organization that can receive 501(c)(3) grant funds. If your project does not have 501(c) tax status or a fiscal sponsor.
  • They recognize not all groups have an official status as a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. They still encourage you to apply. To receive the grant funds you will need to identify a fiscal sponsor who can receive 501(c)(3) funds.
