All Kids Included Student Art Competition in Florida

Dated: September 20, 2022

The All Kids Included student art competition is open to all Miami-Dade students in grades Pre-K-12.  Students are invited to submit original art work depicting the competition theme and are asked to draw on the competition’s selected book for inspiration.

Donor Name: Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs

State: Florida

County: Miami-Dade County (FL)

Type of Grant: Competition

Deadline: 02/01/2023

Size of the Grant: $250

Details:

The theme for 2023 is inspired by the book, You Matter, by Caldecott and Coretta Scott King Honoree Christian Robinson.

In this full, bright, and beautiful picture book, many different perspectives around the world are deftly and empathetically explored—from a pair of bird-watchers to the pigeons they’re feeding. Young readers will be drawn into the luminous illustrations inviting them to engage with the world in a new way and see how everyone is connected, and that everyone matters.

Student artists are asked to read the book for inspiration and depict the themes of inclusion, interconnection, and respect.

The All Kids Included – Accessible Art Experiences for Kids (AKI) initiative was developed by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, and in part through grant funding provided by The Children’s Trust. The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
