Environmental justice efforts seek to ensure the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of people in issues that impact health and sustainability of the environment. Annually the Kalamazoo Community Foundation requests proposals that support environmental programs and projects in Kalamazoo County according to the following priorities:
- Community-driven projects and activities that advance environmental justice in the greater Kalamazoo area, including projects that address the following issues and their intersections with environmental equity and sustainability:
- climate equity
- food systems
- waste
- lead
- Programs and speakers dealing with the above issues of climate equity, food systems, waste and lead

Eligibility Criteria
Nonprofit organizations that are recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and provide services that benefit residents of Kalamazoo County are eligible to apply.
