Dated: November 10, 2022

The Currier Museum of Art is inviting applicants for its third annual Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program.

Donor Name: Currier Museum of Art

State: All States

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Program

Deadline: 12/01/2022

Size of the Grant: $1,000

Details:

The awards will provide support for self-identified emerging artists (or groups of up to three artists) focused on social practice. Residencies may be for a period of 6 to 12 weeks between mid-October 2023 and mid-March 2024. The residency program is central to the Currier Museum’s mission of connecting audiences with art and creative thinking. This open call privileges social practice artists who share the goal of impacting people through the transformative power of art.

Applicants must demonstrate a history of social engagement in their artmaking practice and production. Successful applicants will develop an innovative project with tangible outcomes that align with the tenets of their own practice, the mission of the museum, and the needs of the community with whom they will collaborate. Artists and small collectives (up to 3 people) working in any media are eligible to apply.

The Currier Museum encourages proposals from all communities. The museum does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Funding Information

The Currier Museum supports resident artists with a stipend of $1,000 per week, travel allowance up to $500, materials support, and housing in a fully furnished home. In most cases, artists may be able to have spouses/children accompany them. Service animals are welcome.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Individual artists or collectives of up to three people are eligible to apply.
  • Artists working in any media are eligible to apply.
  • Artists must be able to commit to at least six continuous weeks in residence during mid-October 2023 to mid-March 2024. The applicant must list their preferred residency period in their application.
