Apply now for AWS InCommunities Eastern Oregon Fund

The aim of the AWS InCommunities Eastern Oregon Fund, sponsored by AWS, is to support existing groups and individuals based in Morrow County or Umatilla County, Oregon, to either start a new project from a selection of available projects or to expand an existing project, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for communities.

Details:

The project must address at least one of the following themes: STEAM; Sustainability & Environment; Economic Development; Future Workforce Development; Inclusion, Diversity & Equity; Homelessness, Hunger, and Health & Wellbeing.

The AWS InCommunities Eastern Oregon Fund can be used to cover direct costs relating to the set-up or maintenance of the new or existing project. For example, funds can be used for space rental, insurance fees, seeds and planting materials, tools, training fees; materials you might need for a project that benefits your community.

This initiative is part of AWS InCommunities’ long-standing commitment to being a good neighbor by supporting and helping deliver innovative programs that will have a lasting impact in communities where AWS has a presence.

Funding Information

Funding amounts generally range from $500 to $5,000 for the proven portfolio ideas (the amount of funding available per idea can be found on the webpage of each idea; funding amounts align with the cost of starting each project). For your own, existing community project, there are three available price points, of $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000, depending on need.

There is a total fund of $300,000 available to help support communities to start a new project or expand an existing project. Each applicant who successfully completes a 30 Day Challenge and an Impact Challenge will receive funding to help get their selected project off the ground.

The steps to complete the 30 Day Challenge include:

  • Scheduling a 15 min call with one of the ChangeX team
  • Recruiting 4 people to join your team
  • Hosting a casual kick-off virtual meeting
  • Sharing a team photo & a short action plan

In addition to being awarded funding, every applicant that applies to start or expand an idea in their community will receive a range of supports including:

  • A 5 step starter guide for your chosen project
  • Free tech tools & website to help get your project started and manage your group
  • Advice & support via email and phone

Eligibility Criteria

  • The AWS InCommunities Eastern Oregon Fund is open to existing groups and individuals (once they form a team) to start new projects, or expand an existing project, in their community.
  • Examples of eligible groups include schools, universities, colleges, daycares, churches or other faith-based organizations, hospitals and hospital rehabilitation centers, mental health facilities, community gardens, neighborhood groups, senior citizen centers, and community centers.
  • The project must take place in Morrow County or Umatilla County, Oregon.
