The Arlington Commission for the Arts is committed to Racial Equity and Equity in the Arts. It is with that in mind that the Commission has decided to set grant money aside to award to individual artists and organizations who prioritize equity.

The FY 2023 Arlington Arts Grants Program is a competitive program that supports arts organizations with financial grants for General Operating Support (GOS). Grants are to be awarded for activities that:

  • Are mission focused;
  • Foster excellence, cultural equity and diversity of arts and culture in Arlington County;
  • Have significant impact on the community or meet a need in the County; and,
  • Result in distinctive, high quality, and meaningful cultural experiences in Arlington County.

Funding Information

Eligible organizations may apply to fund general operating expenses up to $25,000 and cannot exceed 20% of an organization’s total revenue on its most recently filed IRS Form 990 or 990 EZ. To be eligible, an organization must have a budget of at least $10,000 from the previous fiscal year. The maximum award is $25,000.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to receive a FY 2023 GOS Grant an organization must:

  • Be certified as a 501(c)3 nonprofit by the IRS or have Fiscal Sponsorship of a certified501(c)3.
  • Have a physical street address in Arlington County as shown on the organization’s most recently filed IRS
    Form 990 or 990 EZ, or on its most recently filed MISC 1099 if the organization is under Fiscal
    Sponsorship. PO Boxes are not accepted.
  • Have filed an IRS Form 990 or 990 EZ with the IRS for its most recent fiscal year. IRS 990 e-postcards are
    not accepted.
  • Produce a regular program of cultural and artistic activities that are consistent with the mission of
    the organization.
  • Have complied with all requirements and conditions imposed by the Commission in the last grant
    period for which it received funding.
