ARPA Business Promotion Grant Program – New York

The City of Kingston is pleased to announce the launch of the ARPA Business Promotion Grant Program, made possible with funds from the federal American Rescue Plan Act.

Details:

This program is intended to respond to the negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency by focusing on the promotion of small businesses within the community, particularly public-facing and hospitality-oriented businesses.

The ARPA Business Promotion Grant Program will assist local business associations spread the word about what Kingston has to offer –not only to residents, but to those visiting and vacationing in the city. This program is designed to assist associations to entice people to enjoy all Historic Kingston’s unique and exciting amenities.

To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate how their marketing/promotional/advertising or other efforts will promote Kingston’s businesses. Preference will be given to Kingston-based applicants. Up to $50,000 has been allocated for this initiative.

Funding Information

Grant award amounts, starting at a minimum of $10,000, will vary depending on the number of successful applicants.

Eligible Expenses 

Eligible expenses include:

  • Events designed to promote Kingston businesses
  • Payroll for program staff working to promote Kingston businesses
  • Program-related inventory/supplies/equipment used for promotion
  • Other costs related to the direct provision of promotional services (Ex: website fees and licensing)
  • Guest educator fees related to business promotion.

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for an award, an organization must:

  • Demonstrate that it provides promotional services to businesses that exist within the City of Kingston
  • If applying as a nonprofit, be registered with a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) designation in the State of New York
  • Have been operating in the City of Kingston or providing services prior to October 1, 2021
  • Not be facing any pending litigation or legal action
  • Not have any principals, including all managing members and/or officers, who have been convicted of financial crimes within the past three years
  • Not be suspended or debarred from the use of federal funds.
