Artist Next Level Project Grants for Individual Artists and Collectives (California)

Dated: March 13, 2023

The Vallejo Arts Fund is seeking applications for its Artist Next Level Project Grants to support artistic and cultural work within the performing arts, visual arts, digital and media arts, traditional folk arts, and oral/written storytelling.

Donor Name: Vallejo Arts Fund

State: California

City: Vallejo

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 03/18/2023

Size of the Grant: $5,000 up to $10,000

Details:

The Artist Next Level Project Grants unrestricted grant supports Vallejo artist and culture bearers who live or are rooted in Vallejo for 5 years or more, and who are looking to expand their artistic opportunities on a “next level project”. This part of the fund is interested in supporting BIPOC artists to create a project that the artist and/or collective believes will take their artistic practice, skills, and/or visibility to a broader network, new collaborators, or new audiences.

There is $50,000 available in the Artist Next Level Project grant category. In the spirit of the fund, the Vallejo Arts Fund will make as many Artist Next Level Project grants as possible ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. Applicants who apply to the Artist Next Level Project grant may apply to any other grant category (Youth Arts; Arts Cultural Space; BIPOC-Centered Arts & Cultural Practice; Individual Microgrant) but may only receive up to two VAF grants.

VAF deeply appreciates the multifaceted aspects of arts and cultural practices. However, the VAF is currently not seeking applications for healing arts practices (i.e., massage therapists, reiki or acupuncture practitioners), nail artists, culinary artists, locticians, tattoo artists, yoga instructors, fitness/aerobics instructors, or makeup artists.

Funding Information

  • Grants in this category range from $5,000 up to $10,000
  • Fund Size: $50,000

Eligibility Criteria

All Individual artists or collectives who live, work, and/or are rooted in Vallejo and have been working with BIPOC communities for at least 5 years in Vallejo, are eligible to apply. Projects taking place in Vallejo will be prioritized, however, the VAF recognizes that for more established artists their next level work may be outside of Vallejo. Lastly, applicants must be age 18 or older.
