Arts in Corrections Program – Training Organizations (California)

The CAC’s Arts in Corrections (AIC) program contracts with nonprofit organizations, arts-related units of government, or other entities (also known as Training Organizations) to provide virtual trainings to the current AIC Coordinating Organizations and Program Development Organizations.

Details:

Organizations of all sizes interested in providing training services to current AIC Coordinating Organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for the following training areas:

  • Healing-Centered Best Practices for Arts Facilitators trainings should include pedagogies, philosophies, and arts education practices that support the Coordinating Organizations’ efforts and uplift their abilities to communicate lessons and elevate their content to reflect a meaningful healing-centered approach.
  • Race and Equity training should include skills and approaches to activate narrative and culture shifts in Coordinating Organizations to center equity and justice. Training’s may include practical skills on how to make changes to organizational policies, program activities, and hiring practices that reflect the diverse communities represented in the prison population.
  • Restorative and Transformative Justice trainings should include pedagogies, philosophies, and arts education practices that provide Coordinating Organizations’ administrative staff and Arts Providers tools to incorporate Restorative Justice and Transformative Justice into their organizational policies, AIC workshops, and arts curriculum.
  • Strategic Partnership training should illustrate and provide the resources necessary for Coordinating Organizations to partner with other community members/organizations to diversify income, grow capacity, creatively align values, and/or branch into new sectors.

Funding Information

Proposals may be submitted for a maximum budget of $50,000 per topic for two years.

Eligibility Criteria

Proposers should review, understand, and meet the expectations and minimum qualifications of Training Organizations below before submitting a proposal. Training Organizations must:
  • Be a California-based nonprofit, unit of government, or other entity that can coordinate the appropriate personnel for the AIC program.
  • Fiscal Sponsors are permitted if they meet the guidelines in the policy.
  • If the applicant is a multi-state organization with headquarters in another state, the applicant must have physical offices in California and currently provide services to California residents.
  • Demonstrate the ability to administer the training efficiently and effectively to meet AIC program values.
  • Administrative personnel must have at least five (5) years of administrative experience within the last ten (10) years.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide and/or coordinate access to training for personnel.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collect and provide training evaluation data to the CAC.
  • Demonstrate experience with providing training in the topics outlined in Purpose of RFP at the state or local level, or experience in providing comparable training to similar populations.
