The Program offers up to $7,500 in funding for community members, community-based organizations (CBO’s), and stakeholders to carry out neighborhood-based Black cultural functions and events across five key districts in the City of San Francisco:
- Lakeview
- OMI (Oceanview, Merced Heights, Ingleside)
- Sunnydale
- Tenderloin
- Visitacion Valley
Grantees for Mini-Grants are required to be San Francisco residents, preferably working and/or living in the neighborhoods they seek to serve through event planning. The following criteria are required for this funding opportunity:
Category
Approved events will fall under at least one of the following categories:
- Music (i.e. concert, small performance, DJ event)
- Education (i.e. speaker series, panel discussion, workshop/training)
- Health & Wellness (i.e. health fair, farmer’s market, )
- Sports (i.e. track meet, basketball camp, martial arts seminar)
- Black Culture (i.e. documentary screening, historical lecture, cultural celebration)
- Vendor Fair (i.e. craft fair, makers market, fashion symposium)
- Youth & Family (i.e. petting zoo, amusement event, family movie night)
- Faith-Based (spiritual retreat, religious conference, gospel event)
If an event does not fall under at least one of these categories, applicants must provide a clear description of event elements, target audience, and intended community benefit outcomes.
Cost: Events approved for funding must be free and open to the public.

- Applications for the Mini-Grants Program consider the individual grantee, as well as the event(s) proposed. Grantees are required to be:
