These grant awards are to be used solely for the support of the solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs.
Funding Information
- $1,500,000 available for fiscal year (FY) 2022-23
- $96,000 is set aside for LEA training and outreach.
- The remaining $1,404,000 will be distributed among grant applicants on a pro-rata basis.
- The grant amount is established from a grant base grant award of $15,000 per jurisdiction plus additional grant funds based on population and the number of permitted, active solid waste facilities in each LEA jurisdiction.
Grant Period
- The Grant Term begins July 1, 2022. The Grant Term ends on October 27, 2023.
Eligible Projects
- Grant funds will supplement the LEA’s existing budget for their solid waste facilities permit and inspection program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants are limited to CalRecycle certified Local Enforcement Agencies.
- Individual Application: An Individual Application is one in which a single eligible entity will be responsible for grant implementation. The applicant in an Individual Application will be responsible for the performance of the grant and all related documentation. In addition, the applicant will be the only entity receiving any real or personal property that is purchased with grant funds.
- Regional Application: Local governments may join together in a Regional Application in which two or more eligible jurisdictions join together for the purpose of grant implementation. A Regional Lead Participant must be designated to act on behalf of all Non-Lead Participants. The Lead Participant is the applicant, and if awarded, will be the grantee responsible for the performance of the grant and all required documentation. CalRecycle will direct all official correspondence and grant payments to the Lead Participant. If a jurisdiction is a Non-Lead Participant in a Regional Application, it may not apply individually.
