The purpose of the Flint Women and Girls Fund is to encourage the advancement and full participation of women and girls in society by promoting the removal of barriers to their economic, educational, physical, emotional, social, artistic, and personal growth. This means: (1) supporting programs that advocate policy and system change on issues that affect women/girls; (2) encouraging programs that will enable women and women’s organizations to achieve economic self-sufficiency; (3) supporting organizations which increase the range of choices available to women and girls; and (4) giving high priority to organizations in which women are the primary decisionmakers.
Characteristics
- Program is for women and/or girls within Genesee County.
- Program addresses the needs of a population traditionally underserved and/or oppressed, may focus on social justice and racial disparities.
- Program encourages self-sufficiency.
- Preference given to programs that include participants in the design or evaluation of the program.
- Program elements related to civic engagement and/or that advocate for favorable policies for women and/or girls in any of the three priority areas are welcomed.
- Programs supported through multiple sources are preferred.
- Preference given to a program that includes demonstrated collaborations.
- Preference given to organization’s that haven’t received a grant from the FWG fund in the past 3 years
Funding Information
Between $10,000 and $15,000 is available.
Organization Structural Elements
- Either a new program or enhancement to an existing program is eligible. A new program would be eligible if from an organization with a demonstrated history of delivering successful programs to women and/or girls.
- The organization affirms a specific commitment to women and/or girls.
Grant Requirements
- Final grant report, summarizing project successes and/or lessons learned.
- Financial report on grant expenditures.
- Updated financial plan for sustaining the program.
- Presentation to or site visit for Advisory Committee either midway or near the end of the grant cycle.
