The Chequamegon Bay Area Community Funds are granted by the Advisory Board for initiatives that meet the changing needs of community in the following five areas (listed alphabetically):
- Arts
- Community and Economic Development
- Education
- Environment
- Human Services
Within these five areas, priority will be given to projects that meet some or all of these criteria:
- Strengthen community ties between individuals and collaboration between organizations within their service area (Washburn, Ashland and Bad River)
- Address underlying causes of community problems
- Undertake studies on matters that impact civic issues or public policy
- Are new in nature and require start-up funds.
- Build an organization’s program and/or management capacity
- Respond to community needs that require moderate grant money but produce significant result

Grants general range from $300-$2,500.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for funding, an organization must:
- Be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code;
- Be located in or provide service to residents within the Chequamegon Bay Area Community Fund service area. The Chequamegon Bay area includes the boundaries of the Washburn School District and the Ashland School District including Odanah, the central community of the Bad River Reservation.
