The City of Alhambra is providing assistance to address the adverse impact of the novel Coronavirus to the local small business community. To qualify for assistance, a business must be one of the following: (1) serve a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defined low- and moderate- income area within Alhambra; or (2) be a low- and moderate- income business owner(s).

Eligibility Criteria
- The Small Business Assistant Grant Program supports small businesses in Alhambra impacted by COVID-19 with grants to retain the continuity of business operations for services to the community and/or assist income-qualified microenterprises. Grants are based on availability, program guidelines, and the submission of all required information and supporting documentation proving financial hardship or recovery relating to COVID-19.
- Grant funds can be used for a variety of needs including but not limited to overhead expenses, rent, utilities, business services such as marketing to increase capacity, and necessary equipment to continue business operations, or expenses related to COVID-19 or expenses incurred to adopt safer operating procedures. The program is funded through emergency relief funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
- All businesses assisted under the Program must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- Must be a for-profit business
- Be located in the City of Alhambra and have a physical location (bricks/mortar building/home office);
- Have been operational for at least six months with an Alhambra business license;
- Small Businesses must have no more than 25 employees including the owner(s), or be a Microenterprise with no more than 5 employees including the owner(s);
- Must be in good standing; have no outstanding code violations with federal, state or local governments; have no liens against the business;
- Meet one of HUD’s criteria of a low- and moderate-income benefit;
- Must have experienced demonstratable impact or hardship in business operations due to COVID-19;
- Has not received COVID relief assistance from other sources including federal, state or county governments or similar;
- Submit completed application and supporting documentation including a W-9 by mail or in person;
- Incomplete applications will be rejected/denied.
