Donor Name: City of Casa Grande

State: Arizona

City: Casa Grande

Type of Grant: Program

Deadline: 03/03/2023

Details:

The Arts and Humanities Commission has partnered with the CG Mosaic Creative Communities Team on the Arizona Public Service (APS) Utility Box Art Program. This program is designed to enhance the Casa Grande community by adding works of art to the streetscapes on surfaces that are often targeted by graffiti. Artwork on utility boxes functions as a form of communication to a moving audience with the goal of creating a safe, inclusive, and interesting environment.

Specifications

  • Successful proposals will foster community pride and convey a sense of the City of Casa Grande’s culture, history, business, and amazing outdoors and open spaces.
  • When designing the artwork, artists should recognize the vitality of the downtown area, diverse neighborhoods, and how these areas contribute to the city through arts, music, community events, outdoors, history, culture, and special attractions.
  • Artwork must be in good taste.
  • The Commission has identified Seven (7) utility boxes. Do your homework. If interested in a specific box location, do a site visit to get a feel for the local architecture, neighborhood, and history of the area.

Funding Information

  • Selected artists will be given $500.00 to paint a large utility box and $250.00 to paint a small utility box
  • After all the utility boxes have been painted, the Arts and Humanities Commission and CG Mosaic Creative Communities Team will select one winner who will be awarded $500.00.

  • Design must reflect positivity
