These funds are available from the collection of local option sales tax funds allocated to community betterment projects within the City of Estherville.
Funding Information
Eligible applicants may request funds to be matched up to a maximum amount of $4,000. Grant funds will be awarded on a dollar-per-dollar match, with a maximum grant award not to exceed $4,000 per application. For example, a project with eligible expenses of $6,000 would be awarded a $3,000 grant.
Any residential property owner located in Estherville city limits. Possible projects include but are not limited to:
- New Exterior Painting
- New Siding
- New windows, roof or landscaping (windows, roof and landscaping are only eligible if they are part of a comprehensive update, landscaping cannot exceed 20% of the total project cost)
Excel Estherville Neighborhood Façade Grants DO NOT fund:
- Any improvement that would be eligible for a Business Façade Improvement Grant.
- Churches for the purpose of advancing a specific religion
- Any public, municipal, or governmental entity
- Any project started prior to notice of grant award
- Homeowner labor on the project
Selection Criteria
Grant selection criteria include, but are not limited to:
- “Beautification” of the home by the project
- Existing condition of the exterior of the home
- Location of the home (High traffic areas will be given priority)
- Property must be in, or be brought into, compliance with all City Codes
- Capacity to manage and execute the project
- Strategy for achievement is sound with well established timelines and a cost-effective budget
