City of Lawrenceburg Youth Grant Program in Indiana

Dated: August 24, 2022

Applications are open for the City of Lawrenceburg Youth Grant Program for the not-for-profit organizations for programs that directly benefit youth between the ages of 0 and 18.

Donor Name: Dearborn Community Foundation

State: Indiana

County: Dearborn County (IN)

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 10/10/2022

Size of the Grant: $8,000

Details:

The grants offered by the foundation support the needs/interests of the community in the fields of Art, Culture and Humanities, Community and Public Benefit, Education, Public Safety, Environment and Animal Protection, Human Services, and Youth Programs. The Foundation considers awarded grants to be investments in their community. DCF grants benefit the community in a variety of ways. Projects range from a fingerprint identification system for the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department and the support of the food pantries in Dearborn County to exterior maintenance at Hillforest Museum and the purchase of swift water/ice rescue equipment for Dearborn County Water Rescue. The majority of Foundation funds awarded to non-profit, IRS tax-exempt organizations are discretionary grants for which DCF conducts a competitive review and decision-making process. The balance of Foundation grants are awarded based on recommendations by their donors and are distributed from endowment funds established by donors.

Selected programs/teams, those that allow participation of a few children when other organizations are available to offer the same recreational opportunities, are not eligible to apply for the program. Half of the total funding available is allocated to benefit youth programs where 75% of the youth reside in the Lawrenceburg school corporation area and the other half is allocated for youth programs that benefit youth where 90% of the youth reside in Dearborn County. Applicants must provide the percentage of youth that reside in Lawrenceburg and the percentage of youth that reside in Dearborn County for their program participants.

Funding Information

The Maximum grant awards are $8,000 per organization per calendar year.

General Grant Policies

  • Organizations serving residents of Dearborn County that are currently recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under IRC section 501(c)(3) or under section 501(c) are eligible to apply for grants from DCF.
  • If a tax-exempt organization is not a 501(c)(3), then the purpose of the grant request must be charitable as defined by the IRS. Grants awarded to non-501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations will be proportionate to the charitable purpose of the grant request.
  • Grants are awarded only to organizations whose programs benefit the residents of Dearborn County. If your organization is located outside of Dearborn County but you serve Dearborn County residents, then the grant request should be proportionate to the number of Dearborn County residents served.
  • All organizations applying for grants through the Dearborn Community Foundation must have a responsible fiscal agent or treasurer within the organization and follow adequate accounting procedures.
  • Organizations may not apply for any property improvements (buildings, fencing, etc.) to land not owned by the organization seeking the grant funds.
  • Generally, grants are not made:
    • To individuals, except for educational scholarships (which are paid to the educational institute for the benefit of the individual);
    • Exclusively for endowment creation (with the exception of endowment matching programs);
    • To fund travel expenses;
    • To sustain ongoing programs/projects; and
    • To fund salaried/contracted positions.
