Made possible by the Long Beach Recovery Act, this program aims to fund large citywide cultural special events that the City has not previously funded in order to celebrate Long Beach’s vibrant communities and support community healing via cultural practices.
The events must be free and open to the public and the grant funding will offset the cost of City special event permits and fees.

Awards are up to $25,000 depending on the total cost of the event’s permit fees.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Events: A culturally-focused large outdoor festival, parade, fair, concert, the atrical workshop or production, and film/literature festival that provides cultural enrichment to communities disproportionately impacted by the effects of COVID-19 that requires a Special Event permit and incurs special event fees. This event must be free and open to all City of Long Beach residents and stakeholders; and
- Existing City funding: The organization’s proposed event must not currently be funded by the City; and
- Organizational Background: Organizations eligible for this grant must be a registered 501(c)(3) organization or have a fiscal sponsor, have a mission that includes cultural offerings; and
- Location: Are headquartered in Long Beach and proposing an event that will specifically serve residents, visitors, and/or tourists within the Long Beach boundaries; and
- Equity & Recovery: Provides cultural programming that will enrich, or benefit communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19: Black, Latinx, Cambodian, Indigenous, Asian/Pacific Islander communities, and LGBTQ communities.
