The Community Impact grants support nonprofits whose strategies and outcomes align with the four focus areas: community vibrancy, economic prosperity, educational success, and health and wellness.

Grant Priorities

They focus on four areas of community life that are most likely to produce positive and lasting change in the Greater Richmond region.

They work closely with their funding partners and grantees to advance these goals:

  • Community Vibrancy:
    • Their goal is for community members to access and appreciate arts and cultural opportunities.
  • Economic Prosperity:
    • Their goal is for the region’s resources to be sustainable and residents to be economically stable and secure.
  • Educational Success:
    • Their goal is for young people to achieve in school, engage in their community and be prepared for the workforce.
  • Health & Wellness:
  • Their goal is for community members to be safe and healthy.

Funding Information

Grants typically range from $10,000 to $50,000. Occasionally, they will identify a limited number of projects to receive grants in excess of the current guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Letters of Introduction are accepted from 501(c)(3) charitable organizations located in the Community Foundation’s service area, which includes: the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg and Richmond, as well as the counties of Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, and Powhatan.
  • Community Impact grant applicants are required to maintain a Guidestar Gold profile. They suggest making these updates at least two weeks prior to the Full Application deadline.
  • All prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to request a meeting with a Community Engagement officer before starting an application.
