The City of Hyattsville received $17.9 million as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. Hyattsville City Council has set aside a portion of the Rescue Act Funds to serve as emergency relief for Hyattsville residents, small businesses, non-profits, and childcare providers experiencing economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Small businesses and non-profits located in the City of Hyattsville can apply for up to $25,000 in emergency relief.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, businesses must:
- Hold a Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3 business license that is up-to-date from the City of Hyattsville. Businesses located in Hyattsville are required to renew their City licenses by June 30 each year;
- Have been operational since at least 2020; and
- Have fewer than 250 employees.
- Self-employed, independent contractors who work in the personal care services industry may also be eligible.
- Non-profits must:
- Operate as a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)19 non-profit organization;
- Have been operational since at least 2020;
- Be in good standing with the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation; and
- Provide all or a primary portion of programs or services in the City of Hyattsville
- Preference will be given to non-profits with a location in the incorporated City limits.
