The Greater Toledo Community Foundation is a public charitable organization created by citizens of the community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in the service area, which includes northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. The Foundation holds a variety of funds established by community members since 1973. One fund type is the Field of Interest Fund which allows individuals, families or businesses to support specific causes like the environment, youth programs, the arts, etc. Grants made from Field of Interest Funds are not restricted to a particular nonprofit organization. Rather, they support issues or areas that are important to the original donor in perpetuity. The Eldercare Field of Interest Funds support grantmaking through the following endowed funds at the Foundation: Fondessy Family Fund, Crider Memorial Fund, Fund for the Elderly.
In this request for proposals, the Foundation seeks applications for programs supporting senior citizens (at least 60 years of age), with a priority for those that enable the aging population to live as independently as possible. Applicant organizations should have a demonstrated track record of providing services for the aging. Funds are limited and should not be depended upon as an annual source of support.
