GA100: A Statewide Mini-pitch Campaign in Georgia

Dated: April 5, 2022

The Atlanta United Foundation (AUF) and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) are partnering for GA100, a statewide mini-pitch campaign with the goal of constructing up to 100 mini-pitches across the state, leading into the 2026 World Cup.

Donor Name: Atlanta United Foundation (AUF)

State: Georgia

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Program

Deadline: 06/15/2022

Size of the Grant: $75,000

Details:

The Atlanta United Foundation (AUF) strives to make the game of soccer accessible and inclusive for individuals across the state of Georgia. Through the global game of soccer, their grant programs stress the importance of physical fitness while building a supportive culture of play and sportsmanship. AUF invests in nonprofit organizations that make soccer fun, exciting, and accessible for individuals who otherwise would not get to participate. AUF is an affiliated fund of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.

They are now taking applications for Phase Four to award up to eight more grants with the goal of providing underserved communities in Georgia with financial and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local soccer mini-pitches.

In partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the Atlanta United Foundation (AUF) is launching phase four of a statewide mini-pitch program, with the goal of constructing up to 100 mini-pitches across the state leading into the 2026 World Cup:

  • Phase Four: Construction of mini-pitches in underserved communities in Georgia to increase access to safe sports activities, specifically soccer, for youth in underserved communities across the state.
  • Match Funding: The grant requires a minimum community local match of one dollar for every AUF dollar (1:1) of up to $75,000.

Focus

  • To provide low to moderate income neighborhoods and communities in Georgia the financial and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local mini-pitch soccer fields
  • Communities must demonstrate safe access to mini pitch fields and youth soccer programming
  • To create anchors for placemaking in Georgia communities through the game of soccer and Atlanta United (the more creative field locations and design, the better!)

Organizational Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Program, organizations applying for grant funds must meet all the criteria listed below:

  • Be a community-based organization, elementary, middle school or high school serving a neighborhood consisting primarily of low and moderate-income families and individuals within the State of Georgia. Please note the following:
    • Schools must demonstrate the ability of the community to also utilize the field:
    • Universities and college campuses are not eligible to apply for GA 100 Initiative grants and will not be considered for funding.
  • Have at least one-full time staff person (all-volunteer organizations will not be considered):
  • Be in existence for at least three years:
  • Have a proven track record in real estate development and/or athletic programming:
  • Have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status/school status; and
  • Be located within the State of Georgia.
