The Georgia Music Foundation is calling out applications for the Georgia Music Grant program that offers music education, preservation and outreach programs and/or projects demonstrating need, potential impact on a school, program or community, and the capacity to responsibly manage project operations and finances.

Donor Name: Georgia Music Foundation

State: Georgia

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 09/15/2022

Size of the Grant: up to $5000

Details:

Georgia Music Foundation was established in 1994, and has spent nearly three decades working with valued partners statewide to support programs that preserve Georgia’s music history, provide opportunities for students to participate in music education and promote Georgia’s music communities.

Funding Information

The grants provided are up to $5000.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications will only be accepted from Georgia-based non-profit organizations with IRS 501(c)3 status, or from public, private or charter schools in Georgia serving grades K-12.

Application Criteria

In order to be considered, the applicant must clearly demonstrate that the proposed program or project falls within one of the three categories below and meets criteria for that category:

  • Education – The project provides music instruction and/or programming for K-12 schools, after-school programs or music camps. Public, private and charter schools can apply for this grant. But the public or charter schools must identify in their application the percentage of students that qualify for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) free or reduced price school meals, whereas all private schools must provide the cost of tuition and the number of students that receive full or partial scholarships based on low income.
  • Preservation – The program or project interprets and preserves Georgia’s music history, heritage and culture.
  • Outreach – The project interprets and fosters an appreciation for Georgia’s rich music heritage through public programming, like exhibitions, educational workshops, conferences and lectures. Festivals, plays, ballets or other special events are generally not considered unless the applicant demonstrates project is in support of an existing museum or educational program and presents Georgia’s music heritage and stories as the primary focus of the proposed programming.

Eligible Use of Funds

The funds provided by the Georgia Music Foundation are only eligible for expenses associated with music instruction including instructor, teaching artist or artist residency fees; instructional materials; instruments, instrument repair and musical equipment; music technology, hardware and software; exhibit curation, design, fabrication and/or presentation; fees for musical artist or lecturer participating in approved project; documentary production.

Evaluation Criteria and Review Process

Grant applications are reviewed by Georgia Music Foundation board members who consider the merits of the application including the capacity to implement the program or project with available budget and personnel, as well as organizational history and prior achievements. Preference is given to projects demonstrating critical need and providing accessibility to underserved audiences and students.
