Grants for focusing on Ending Childhood Hunger

Dated: November 14, 2022

With the generous support of the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation, Youth Service America (YSA) is once again offering project grants to youth changemakers — aged 5 to 25 — to lead awareness, direct service, advocacy, and philanthropic projects that focus on ending childhood hunger in their communities.

Donor Name: Youth Service America

State: All States

Counties: All Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 01/16/2023

Size of the Grant: $250 or $500

Details:

This year, youth may apply for grants of either $250 or $500 depending on the number of youth who will be participating as volunteers (project planners, project leaders, and day-of volunteers). $250 grantees will be required to engage at least 25 other youth as volunteers while $500 grantees have a 50 youth volunteer requirement. Fundraising grants are also available where a portion of awarded funds may be used toward project supplies while the remaining funds are to be used as a matching donation.

What are they looking for?

  • Proposed community service or fundraising projects should be youth-led and focused on addressing childhood hunger;
  • Projects may take place in schools, colleges/universities, afterschool programs, youth organizations, nonprofits, or faith-based organizations;
  • Projects must take place during Youth Service Month (April 14-May 14, 2023) with some activity on Global Youth Service Day (April 28-30) strongly encouraged;
  • Youth applicants should engage youth not typically asked to serve (youth with disabilities, youth who are struggling in school, youth from low-income or underserved communities, etc.) as volunteers;
  • Youth applicants must live in the United States, and activities must benefit children and families in the United States.

Because those experiencing hunger require both short-term and long-term support, they are especially interested in projects that have a sustainability component and/or introduce long-term solutions to ending hunger. They are also looking for ideas that bring together all members of the community from young people and their families to Sodexo employees and leaders in the community.
