Grants for strengthening the lives of Women and Girls in Massachusetts

Dated: October 6, 2022

The Women and Girls Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation is seeking applications to provide resources that redress systemic inequities that oppress women and girls and limit their opportunities.

Donor Name: The Cape Cod Foundation

State: Massachusetts

County: Barnstable County (MA)

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 11/10/2022

Size of the Grant:  $10,000-$20,000

Details:

The grant program aims to strengthen the lives of all women and girls in Barnstable County and providing resources that redress systemic inequities that oppress women and girls and limit their opportunities.

Vision is for a Cape Cod community where all women and girls thrive and lead empowered lives in a just and equitable society. Grant making enables to work towards this vision.

Initially, the fund will:

  • Grant funds for projects and programs that promote the well-being, education, leadership development, and empowerment of women and girls of all ages and backgrounds, centering on those from underrepresented groups.
  • Serve as a resource by gathering and sharing information and relevant data to track progress and impact.
  • Advocate for needed policy changes both organizational and governmental.
  • Focus on sustainable change and long-term impact.

Priority Areas

  • Break the cycle of poverty by increasing economic opportunity and self-sufficiency for women through trainings and educational opportunities.
  • Break down barriers for girls by providing new, expanded, or more accessible educational opportunities, out-of-school programs, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Special focus will be to support low-income, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), and historically marginalized and traditionally underrepresented women and girls. The Fund strongly encourages applications from organizations whose leadership and staff reflect these priority communities.

Projects that incorporate these values will be prioritized

  • Accessibility: proposals that increase access to services or that ensure services are accessible to all (for example: transportation and financial barriers are considered and addressed).
  • Cultural Responsibility: proposals that include culturally competent and responsive care, such as material translation or that provide services/outreach in multiple languages.
  • Collaboration: partnerships with peer agencies and across sectors to leverage strengths and streamline services.
