Deadline: 05/03/2023

Grant Duration: 1 year

Details:

Generation Now Circle is a new giving circle at Rose Community Foundation comprised of a diverse group of young adult’s ages 25-40 years old.

Generation Now Circle Eviction Prevention supports nonprofit organizations in the Greater Denver region that support families and individuals who are at risk of eviction or losing their housing. This funding will support direct services and advocacy work that addresses the spectrum of housing assistance.

This funding will support direct services and advocacy work that addresses the spectrum of housing assistance. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Eviction and foreclosure housing and/or utility assistance
  • Legal defense
  • Landlord and tenant mediation
  • Tenant rights education and assistance
  • Mobile homeowner rights education and assistance
  • Advocacy, policy, and systems change.

Purpose

It is estimated that between 10,000 and 53,000 Coloradans are currently experiencing houselessness. This is largely due to the discrepancy between earned wages and rising housing costs but is compounded by the lack of federally funded affordable housing, systemic racism and the rise of anti-houseless criminalization.

The members of Generation Now Circle understand the long-term risk that eviction poses to individuals and families including the negative impacts on physical and mental health, economic stability and children’s access to education. BIPOC communities, women, and low-income individuals are disproportionately vulnerable to eviction and often lack the resources or ability to access support and assistance. Through this funding opportunity, Generation Now Circle hopes to make a difference in the lives of people facing housing instability and prevent additional people from experiencing houselessness.

Impact Areas

For purposes of this RFP, they seek to fund organizations that support:

  • Families with children
  • Single parents, pregnant and/or parenting youth
  • BIPOC individuals and families
  • People with disabilities and neurodiverse individuals
  • Immigrants and refugees
  • LGBTQ+ individuals
  • First-generation high school and college graduates
  • Individuals experiencing addiction to alcohol and/or substances.

Funding Considerations

  • Commitment to advancing equity across gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, income, intellectual and physical ability and geography
  • Diverse perspectives and experiences in program leadership, design, implementation and community engagement that informs the organization’s work
  • Executive leadership, board and staff are representative of communities the organization serves
  • Financial stability of the organization.
