Plastic pollution has a significant impact on our environment that requires the participation of as many as possible to help keep our Earth clean. Plastic pollution affects our marine wildlife, intensifies global warming, and pollutes the air we breathe. Greener JC is funding organizations and businesses that are determined to take initiatives toward reducing plastic pollution and fostering a cleaner and healthier environment.
Funding can support the purchase of more eco-conscious items, efforts to phase out styrofoam or plastic straws, or other programs to decrease plastic use in any area of the business.
Funding Information
Through this grant opportunity, Jersey City businesses can apply to receive funding of up to $1,000 to support their plastic reduction efforts.
Conditions
If awarded, businesses must implement and provide documentation of completion of the project within six months. Business must be comfortable with Greener JC sharing the business and project details on Greener JC’s website and social media pages.
Evaluation Criteria
Greener JC will evaluate the application based on (in no particular order):
- Need: The business demonstrates a genuine need for help and support to reduce plastics.
- Impact: The proposed project will lead to a qualifiable reduction in plastics.
- Commitment: The business is an existing Certified Green Business and or shows the desire to learn more about sustainability and green business practices.
- Location: Greener JC would like to allocate grants to businesses located in all wards across Jersey City.
