Grant to provide Summer Programming Opportunities to Youth and People with Disabilities in Connecticut

Dated: December 27, 2021

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is pleased to announce a competitive grant opportunity designed to provide summer programming opportunities to Hartford youth and people with disabilities in their 29-town region.

Donor Name: Hartford Foundation for Public Giving

State: Connecticut

Town:  Selected Towns

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 01/21/2022

Grant Size: $45,000

Details:

The Foundation’s goal in supporting summer programming is to provide children in Hartford and people with disabilities a safe place to go during the traditional workday and to provide Hartford youth with work-based learning through Counselor-in-Training (CIT) programs. The application also contains informational questions to help the Foundation explore additional areas of alignment between the Foundation’s strategic priorities and summer programming.

Funding Information

The Foundation welcomes requests of up to $45,000 for activities implemented during the summer of 2022.

Proposal Requirements

Grants will be awarded to programs that can contribute to the Foundation’s interest in providing children in Hartford and people with disabilities a safe place to go during their parents’ and caregivers’ traditional workday and to provide Hartford youth work-based learning through CIT programs. Applicants should demonstrate cultural competency in their programming. Preference will be given to organizations that are Black or Latino led.

  • Target Population: Programming must specifically reach Hartford youth or people with disabilities in their 29-town region.
  • Types of Programs: Eligible types of programs include summer camperships, enrichment opportunities (programs that host campers form other agencies rather than hosting their own campers), tutorial experiences and CIT programs.
  • Eligible applicants: Applicants must meet the Hartford Foundation’s basic grantmaking guidelines. Non-501c3 community-based groups may apply using a fiscal sponsor.
  • Expected Outputs: Funded proposals will be asked to track and report on the following outputs:
    • number of children and people with disabilities participating in overall programming,
    • number of Hartford youth (children and/or CITs) participating in programming,
    • number of working families using the summer program as childcare.
