Healthy Children & Families Grant Program (California)

The San Diego Foundation is seeking applications for its Healthy Children & Families Grant Program to support projects and programs providing mental, behavioral, and related support services to children of all ages and their families, utilizing culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices.

Details:

All applicants are encouraged to address services and support for low-to-moderate-income families, as well as historically marginalized communities, and those experiencing health inequities or negative social determinants of health.

HCF advances community resilience through a health equity and increases the quality of life for children and families through expanded access to supportive services, including:

  • Connection to direct financial assistance
  • Equitable access to affordable and high-quality healthcare, including mental and behavioral health services
  • Addressing trauma and increasing access to equity-centered, trauma-informed services for children and families

Focus Areas

Proposals for consideration must focus on at least one of the below areas:

  • Mental/behavioral health screening, treatment, and referrals
  • Access to mental and behavioral healthcare and/or care coordination
  • Supportive interventions

Funding Information

  • This grant is expected to award a total of $300,000. Eligible organizations may request a maximum of $30,000 per proposal.
  • The 12-month grant period will begin July 1, 2022 and end June 30, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

Each proposal must be led by a nonprofit with 501(c)(3) public charity status, located in and serving San Diego County. A 501(c)(3) public charity may serve as a fiscal sponsor for another applicant to administer the grant and provide regular financial reporting to The San Diego Foundation.

  • Organizations may be part of more than one proposal, but may only serve as the lead applicants for one proposal
  • The San Diego Foundation will not fund endowments, existing obligations/debt, scholarships, or projects that promote religious or political doctrines
  • Projects must work to expand care for low-to-moderate-income communities and/or populations experiencing health disparities or negative social determinants of health
