Details:
The goal of the Housing Repair Program is to promote neighborhood stability and preserve the existing supply of single-family homes by assisting moderate income homeowners with repairs to their homes.
Eligible Repairs
- Energy efficiency improvements (replacement windows and doors).
- System upgrades (i.e. plumbing, electrical and HVAC).
- Roof repair and/or replacement and gutters.
- Water heater replacement.
- Lead, mold, and asbestos abatement/remediation.
- Accessibility features for entering and existing the home (i.e. wheelchair ramps, stair rails) and grab bars in bathrooms.
- Installing smoke alarms.
Eligibility Criteria
- Residents earning up to 80% of Area Median Income who own and live in a home within the city limits of Rocky Mount that is at least 40 years old.
- Applications must be current on property taxes for the home being assisted.
- They also must have liability and casualty insurance and also flood insurance if in a floodplain area.
