Eligibility Criteria
Here are some basics about this new opportunity:
- Eligibility: These grants are for humanities organizations with budgets of $500,000 per year or less. Below is a list of the 8 categories of humanities organization. (If you’d like to make the case that your organization should be eligible, though it does not fit into one of these categories, please reach out.)
- Decision-making: Grants decisions will be made based on whether organizations have a mission involving the humanities, organizational size, geographical balance, and whether an organization represents a historically disinvested or economically under-resourced community or not, such as rural or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) communities.
- More on eligibility: Note that organizations can receive just one Community Grant at a time. So if your organization has a Community Grant already, then hold off on applying for this (there will be more Gen Ops grant cycles – as well as project grants cycles, coming in 2023). However, if you have an “open” (ie active) Activate History, ARP Emergency Relief, or Envisioning Justice grant, you are eligible to apply for this.
- Type of organization: These unrestricted grants are for tax-exempt organizations (including nonprofits that have 501c3 status as well as those that do not) that have a focus on the humanities.
