The James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation is currently accepting letters of inquiry for its Education Grant Program.
Donor Name: James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation
State: Oregon
County: All Counties
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 10/21/2022
Size of the Grant: $25,000
Details:
The education system is failing many students, particularly Black, indigenous, and other children of color, children with a disability or impairment, children who have been removed from their primary parent’s care because of abuse or neglect, LGBTQ+ children and children experiencing poverty. Chronic systemic inequities have disproportionately impacted these students for generations. Their educational system has not created or supported a holistic system where all children can thrive with equal opportunity and become happy, healthy, and engaged citizens.
Funding Information
Any applicant organization must have minimum annual operating CASH expenses of $25,000, which means in-kind expenses are not included in the $25,000 minimum.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be based in and serving Oregon communities, and must have been providing programs or services to the community for 3+ years.
- Your organization must have minimum annual expenses of $25,000 (excluding in-kind, if your organization tracks in-kind expenses).
- The grants are typically between 3-6% of your annual expenses. They rarely fund requests that are greater than 10% of your annual operating expenses.
- Education applicants with annual expenses of $100,000 or less can request one year of project or general operating support.
- Education applicants with annual expenses greater than $100,000 can request one or two years of project or general operating support.
- Eligible organizations may submit one LOI in a 12-month period. Current grantees may submit an LOI 12 months (or the length of their grant period for multi-year grants) after their last grant decision date. For current grantees: the final report for your prior grant must be submitted before you submit a new LOI. You may submit your final report before the due date if the conditions of the grant have been met.
- School Districts, ESDs, and eligible private schools may apply for activities that fall outside of regular operational and personnel expenses. Eligible private schools are those where the majority of students attend tuition-free. For schools and districts participating in an active partnership with community-based partners to support students and families, we encourage the partner organizations (if otherwise eligible) to apply.
- Charter and alternative schools are eligible to apply.
