Greater Toledo Community Foundation is a public charitable organization created by citizens of their community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in their service area. The Foundation serves northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan with a particular emphasis on the greater Toledo area. Grants from unrestricted funds support a variety of programs in the fields of education, social services, physical and mental health, neighborhood and urban affairs, natural resources and the arts.

Any organization with services benefitting youth residing in Lucas or Wood Counties are encouraged to apply, with preference given to those that serve residents of Waterville and the Anthony Wayne Local School District. Projects and organizations that benefit children with developmental disabilities or abused children are a particular priority of these funds.

The Waterville Community Foundation is a charitable organization, affiliated with the Greater Toledo Community Foundation, dedicated to the enrichment of community life in Waterville and the surrounding area.

Katherine Smith Funds for Youth support projects in the following areas:

  • Programs that enhance the lives of young people under the age of 18 in northwest Ohio
  • Programs that benefit youth residing in Lucas or Wood Counties
  • Program operational expenses for existing services
  • Program expenditures associated with establishment of new programs
  • Funds are limited and awarded on a competitive basis

Funding Information

The Katherine R. Smith Funds for Youth seeks proposals for projects that can demonstrate impact over the course of a project period, and therefore will only consider requests that exceed $3,000. It is anticipated that approximately $40,000 will be available annually for distribution through this request for proposals.

Criteria

Proposals will only be considered from nonprofit, charitable organizations which have been designated as having tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Applicant organizations must be located in or providing services for residents of Lucas or Wood County.
