Goals
- The aim of these new programs and efforts is to provide their young people with expanded opportunities to be more active and engaged with their peers, and to ensure a safe, supportive, and nurturing community.
- YEP grants are intended to provide community organizations with resources to establish programming and engagement opportunities for young people in Howard County. These grants will provide community partners and nonprofits with the opportunity to enhance or develop programming that takes place during the times that young people need the engagement most.
Scope
- The programming that results from this funding should engage youth in activities during times that they are not in school. Programming supported by this grant funding must at least take place on the weekends and/or weekday evenings in order to qualify.
- Recipients may use this funding to expand current successful programs that your organization is already offering. If grant funding is used to support and expand existing programming, the proposal should demonstrate how this grant funding will contribute to increasing youth engagement in Howard County.
- Grant applications that focus on social-emotional learning, mental health and wellness, and community partnerships with local organizations and institutions will be favorably considered

Grants will be awarded for eighteen months, and the average award will range from $10,000-$50,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must demonstrate that the organization is a 501c (3) and in good standing.
- Applicants must provide direct services to the residents of Howard County, Maryland.
- Any programs funded by the grant must be active for the duration of eighteen months.
- Grant recipients must provide bimonthly reports to the County Executive’s office on how the funding is being used and the impact that it has made.
