United Way for Southeastern Michigan desires to be at the forefront of supporting communities that support each other through diverse, grassroots networks. they believe this comes through funding both sustaining organizations and new projects.
The Volunteer Project Mini Grant Program offers four (4), $2,000 grants to fund projects in honor of the 2022 National Volunteer Week between April 17-23, 2022:
- Awarded funds should be used for project supplies for specific volunteer projects within the dates specified by United Way as related to National Volunteer Week 2022.
- Under this opportunity, the contributions of volunteers to addressing a community need or supporting the applicant organization’s mission should be central to proposed projects.
- Projects must engage a minimum of 15 volunteers.
- Awards are based on the scope of the project and the number of volunteers engaged, as well as the indicators outlined in the attached rubric.
Project Examples
- Host a neighborhood cleanup or beautification project (indoor or outdoor).
- Collect, organize, and distribute canned goods, clothing, or other resources.
- Start a new community garden or work on an existing one in your neighborhood.
Eligibility Criteria
- Groups must operate within Wayne, Macomb, and/or Oakland counties.
- Groups applying for the mini-grants program are not required to have 501(c)3 status but will need to locate a fiduciary to oversee funds if they are not a 501(c)3.
- There is no minimum yearly budget.
- Projects must take place within Wayne, Macomb, and/or Oakland counties.
- Groups must be able to meet all contractual and reporting requirements.
