Details:
The main goal of the Mini-Grant funding round is to provide smaller organizations who are addressing poverty, racism, and trauma as a root cause of institutional inequity in Washtenaw County an opportunity to receive funding. This funding round is especially important for smaller organizations because they often compete with larger more resourced organizations during large scale funding opportunities. Larger grants benefit organizations that have the expertise and capacity to write grants, which small organizations may not have. Additionally, smaller organizations are commonly providing high quality service tailored to community members that may be missed or not provided the same level of service by a larger organization, such as community members with historically marginalized social identities and community members that are geographically distant from major service providers. The Mini-Grants can be used to sustain or expand existing services, but they are also encouraging organizations to apply with innovative ideas. Programs that take calculated risks to achieve potentially excellent outcomes are a good fit for this funding round.
