Students compete for a chance to award a $1,000 grant from a total of $10,000 available that the students themselves recommend. Ten students are selected and each will personally present a $1,000 grant to the nonprofit they have selected while spending time with the nonprofits’ leadership, learning about the organization’s mission and how it serves tri-county residents.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students in 7th and 8th grades attending school in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.
- Students who were selected to award grants in previous years are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.
- Students must be available to personally meet with staff at their chosen charitable organization and present their grant. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the grant.
Eligible Organizations
Charitable organizations with current nonprofit 501(c)(3) designation located in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties are eligible to receive grant awards. An organization may receive ONLY ONE Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge grant per year.
