Known as PRISM (Promoting Rural Interconnections for Sexual Minorities), the program creates networks for LGBTQ+ organizations and groups to share resources, learn as a community, and respond to the unique set of issues and challenges facing queer people in small towns and rural areas in the upper Midwest.
General operating grants to increase capacity and support professional training.
Funding Information
- The size of the grants will range between $10,000 and $20,000 dollars, and each state will have between two and five organizations receiving grants.
- The grant period will be for 12 months, beginning in November 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of the requirements listed below to apply.
- Organizations must primarily serve LGBTQIA2S+ populations.
- Organizations must be operational for at least one (1) year (Since September 1, 2022).
- Organizations must be 501(c)3 non-profits or fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)3 non-profit.
- Organizations must be located in or primarily serve communities of 50,000 or less.
- Organizations must be located in and primarily serve communities in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin or the Native Nations therein.
- A senior representative of your organization must participate in the PRISM Alliance at a rate of 80% or greater. The Alliance meets virtually each month for 2-2.5 hours and convenes in August for a short conference. Senior representatives can be executive directors, CEOs, board chairs, program directors, and the like.
