The purpose of the renewable resource grant and loan (RRGL) Planning Grant Program is to provide funding to governmental entities for professional and technical services necessary to produce a high-quality RRGL grant application which leads to a project that conserves, manages, develops, or protects Montana’s renewable resources.
This program provides financial assistance to governmental entities preparing quality RRGL grant applications for projects that will conserve, manage, develop, or protect Montana’s renewable resources. Grants for the preparation of Capital Improvement Plans or other management tools are also eligible for funding.
Funding Information
Program funding is limited by revenue availability. Awards will be at the discretion of the DNRC. The following application types which lead to Step.4 Technical Narrative of the RRGL application are eligible for funding.
Project type and maximum funding levels:
- New PER: $15,000
- Updated PER: $8,000
- Technical Narrative: $15,000
- Resource Services (Plans or studies): $8,000
Project Eligibility
Project types eligible for funding:
- Contracted technical services necessary to produce or update a preliminary engineering report (PER) meeting the requirements of the Uniform Application.
- Other resource contracted services such as capital improvement plans (CIP), growth plans, sample collections, surveys, studies, and other activities that lead to an RRGL application
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include any division of state government, tribal government, or other counties, city, or local political subdivision. These governmental entities have included cities, towns, counties, conservation districts, irrigation districts, joint boards of control, and state agencies.
