Anchorum St. Vincent, Thornburg Foundation, and Santa Fe Community Foundation have joined together to provide rapid response grants to help ensure that New Mexico community nonprofits have the resources to collaboratively plan, submit competitive proposals, and secure large federal grants.

Santa Fe Community Foundation will host a Giving Circle Fund for this project and welcome new funders interested in joining this coordinated funding effort.
The grants will provide funding for nonprofits to build their internal capacity so they can access federal funds.

Individual grants from the joint fund can range from $5,000 to $25,000 based on the level of support an organization needs or if they’re collaborating with other organizations.
Funding Priorities
- This grant program is intended to assure that New Mexicans benefit from the influx of new – and existing funding programs related to ARPA and other funding opportunities.
- The program will support a cohort of targeted community and nonprofit groups with strong existing collaboration and/or high potential projects to successfully pursue ARPA funds and other federal, state, and/or local government grants over the next six months to a year.
- Their current priorities and geographic focus for impact are based on funding priorities of participating foundations and may be broadened in the future.
Anchorum St. Vincent will fund:
Health and Social Determinants of Health particularly in the areas of
- Behavioral health
- Senior health
- Housing & homelessness, and
- Educational attainment & career pathways.
Organizations/programs must be working in seven-county geographic region in northern New Mexico (Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Taos, Colfax, Mora, Rio Arriba and San Miguel Counties) and/or northern New Mexico tribal and pueblo communities (Jicarilla Apache Nation, Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, Nambe Pueblo, Picuris Pueblo, Pojoaque Pueblo, San Ildefonso Pueblo, Taos Pueblo and Tesuque Pueblo).
Thornburg Foundation will fund:
- Water resources management programs with a particular focus on projects that advance collaborative water planning, water infrastructure, water sharing, watershed health, and clean water access for disadvantaged communities.
- Food and agriculture programs with a focus towards supporting historically disadvantaged farmers, utilization of conservation practices, agricultural planning or advancing innovate low-use water irrigation techniques in agriculture
- Applications from tribal and Hispanic communities based in New Mexico are encouraged.
- Grantees must be based and/or working in New Mexico.
Funding Information
Grant amounts can range from $5,000 to $25,000 based on consideration for amount of leverage and level of support needed including for collaborative planning.
Eligibility Criteria
Proposals will be considered from community or nonprofit organizations and/or collaborative groups with projects aligned with the funding priorities and a lead applicant meeting the following criteria:
- 501(c)(3) or other grant-eligible entity (may be a fiscal sponsor or intermediary for the collaborative project) including local government or tribal entities pursuing federal or state funding for the community they serve
- Organizations operating for at least three years with average annual gross revenues of at least $500,000 for the two most recently completed fiscal years, preferably supported by audited financial statements or filed annual 990 returns; Smaller organizations may be considered if meeting the eligibility criteria of the identified funding source(s)
- Track record of successfully managing (or have sufficient evidence of capacity to manage) federal, state or local government grants with an identified, specific gap in capacity that this grant can help support
